Crafting For Fellow Sign Makers

Our bespoke sign making service has been designed to bring quality signage not only to our independent customers, but to fellow sign manufacturers. Given the broad range of signage that we craft here onsite, crafting for fellow sign makers enables sign making specialists to gain access to our industry quality handcrafted signs.

Our extensive portfolio incorporates everything from house signs to business signage, in addition to our highly sought after wheel covers. So, if you’re a sign maker in need of a hand – you’ve come to the right place! Alternatively, if you’re curious about the different sign types that we manufacture, then this blog is also for you.

Handcrafted Signage

Timber Signage

Timber signage is where it all started for us. One half of our directing duo, Shaun, crafted a wooden house sign for his mother-in-law, and the rest is history!

Timber signage remains a popular choice amongst our customers. The variety of natural timber we craft with is what our clients celebrate. Our most popular timbers are English Oak, Douglas Fir, Iroko and Sapele (although we also work with Red Cedar, Opepe, Chestnut, Cherry, and Balau – among others). Our experienced carpentry team have refined their sign making processes to turn out some phenomenal signage over the past twenty years. While our standard house signs and stand-out entrance signs are two of the most popular sign types, as natural burials have grown in popularity, our natural memorials have also been in demand. Where we can we use FSC Certified Timber as part of our ongoing commitment to the environment.

Stone Signage

The work of our stonemason is something to marvel at. Crafting everything from high-end house signage to premium memorials, the versatility stone loans itself well to crafting for fellow sign makers.

Similarly to our work with timber, the range of stone that we craft with is extraordinary. We particularly enjoy manufacturing with stone quarried in the UK, including the superior welsh blue and unique lakeland green slates. We find that granite still has a timeless appeal, while ‘stone-like’ Corian is growing in popularity due its distinctive qualities. Using a blend of traditional crafting techniques and modern engraving technology, we can turn out astounding results. Even our team, from time to time, are in awe of what can be achieved.

Metal Signage

Our range of metal signage seems to receive the least celebration when it comes to our sign collections, but not because it is any less than to our team! We craft signage from brass, aluminium, bronze, and zinc – all of which have classic appeal. While brass is most commonly used for our memorial plaques, due to being a traditional choice, our other metals tend to be used for cast house signs. Metal signs are long-lasting and highly effective when it comes to stand out signage, particularly when crafted by experienced craftspeople.

Vinyl Signage

There is such a breadth of signage that we are privileged to craft; our vinyl signage range is the one where we see the most diversity. From Hymn Boards to Pub Signs, we’ve seen it all come through our workshop.

Vinyl signage is seriously adaptable, which is why we find ourselves recommending this sign range to organisations and business. With vinyl, we have the ability to create signboards that are tailored around each individual customer with ease. Using top quality vinyl, each sign can be executed to a client’s exact specifications, and there is virtually no limit to what can be crafted.

Wheel Covers

The Sign Maker was proud to become the parent company to WheelCover.com in 2023. While Wheel Covers have been part of our product line for many years now, taking on this reputable business has enabled us to elevate our wheel cover manufacturing processes to the next level. Consequently, our wheel cover range has grown significantly over the past year. We now craft four distinct types of bespoke wheel cover.

These include:

  • Cut Vinyl (where a design is cut, assembled and laminated).
  • Full Wrap (where the design stretches across the surface area of a wheel cover disc).
  • Printed vinyl (defining the wheel covers that have their design printed as a disc in the centre).
  • Soft fabric vinyl covers.
  • We also supply wheel covers in plain colours and in bulk.

While we’ve given a flavour of our wheel covers in the gallery below, you might like to head to our designated wheel cover website for more information.
